Types of Turnstiles

Waist High Turnstiles are turnstile models with three arms, standing about waist-height for the average person. Often called tripod turnstile gates, these turnstiles deliver the perfect height for pedestrians, allowing visitors to push through with ease. Consider this type of turnstile a classic choice to ensure secured entry control into busy venues.  

Full Height Turnstiles are similar to revolving doors. Built as tall, sturdy structures, these usually tower at about 8-feet high. Unlike a smaller waist high turnstile, people are unable to crawl under or jump over a full height turnstile — making this a safer choice for any facility needing enhanced security. Additionally, this option can become a tandem turnstile, opening room for both an entry as well as an exit. 

Optical Turnstiles use infrared sensors to detect whenever someone passes through. A visitor must present access credentials to scanners located on the turnstile. If a guest tries to pass through without a proper access card, an alarm will sound, promptly alerting security personnel. Optical turnstiles can come with or without barriers, depending on a client’s needs. 

Pedestrian Gates are as efficient as they are effective, helping clients control and monitor the flow of people in and out of each facility. Also known as swing gate turnstiles, pedestrian security gates can function as stand-alone systems as well as integrated components, empowering access control solutions. Both of these methods facilitate clients in controlling staffing and security, protecting facility entrances and exits. 

Security Entrance Doors are full height pedestrian security gates. Functioning more as a secure entry door, consider this a stronger alternative to a chain link gate or just a one-off fabricated solution. The average security entrance gate often features stainless steel hinges, a pull handle, and a heavy-duty hydraulic closure to prevent slamming.
